Blue whales are the world's largest animals and their vocalizations are among the most mysterious and fascinating facts of the natural world. Wildlife experts spent many years trying to understand this behavior and a new research led by Stanford University discovered that whales change their singing schedule during migration season. The studied animals were observed to sing during the night in summer, and then change their singing to daytime before starting their migration and breeding season in winter.
If their changing songs are linked to a different behaviour, understanding their vocalizations would be an insight to predict movements, migration and help protect this endangered species.
There are still many mysteries surrounding whales' songs, so stay tuned!
